TIKA implements 700 projects in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency Directorate (TIKA) implemented about 700 projects in various spheres in Uzbekistan during 23 years, head of TIKA Office in Uzbekistan Suleiman Kiziltoprak told Anadolu agency.

TIKA started its activities in Uzbekistan from 20 May 1994 and became the first Turkish organization in Uzbekistan after the Embassy of Turkey.

TIKA has implemented wide range of projects in Uzbekistan after its office opened in the country, Kiziltoprak said.

TIKA began its work with small projects, but gradually they expanded, Kiziltoprak said. Currently, TIKA projects cover such areas as healthcare, education, agriculture, fishing, forestry, tourism, art and literature.

He said that in last three years, TIKA conducted 20 projects a year in average. Last year, the agency implemented 46 projects in Uzbekistan. In last 23 years, about 700 projects were realized in various sectors in Uzbekistan.

Kiziltoprak said that TIKA Office in Uzbekistan also provide various campaigns on plastic surgery of children and teenagers. Since 2009, some 2,000 Uzbek children and teenagers underwent surgery, he said.
