Government allows sale of apartments in Tashkent to nonresident and foreigners

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan determined conditions for realizing real estate in Tashkent and Tashkent region for non-residents, foreigners and stateless persons.
According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, foreigners, non-resodents and stateless persons can only buy apartments in new buildings. At the same time, the Government set the minimum cost of apartments and determined the procedure for making settlements.
Citizens of Uzbekistan, who do not have permanent residence permit in Tashkent and Tashkent region, as well as foreign citizens or stateless persons, who have arrived in Tashkent and Tashkent region from other regions of Uzbekistan and who have a permanent residence permit in these regions can purchase real estate in new buildings with a cost of at least 2500 sizes of minimal salary. The payment will be conducted via bank transfer. The rate of state duty for notarial certification of the transaction is 5% from the contract sum.
Foreign citizens or stateless persons, who arrived in Tashkent and Tashkent region from other states and obtained a residence permit, can purchase real estate in new buildings at the cost less than US$150,000 at the rate of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan. The payment is made via bank transfer in national currency. The rate of the state duty for notarial certification of the transaction is 10% of the contract sum.
The fee for notary action is set at 400 sizes of minimal salary if the owner, who purchased apartment on above mention conditions, sells, changes or gifts the apartment within three years.
Persons, who bought apartment on above-mentioned conditions, may apply for permanent residence registration in Tashkent and Tashkent region.
