Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Green Corridor, set up to increase the volume of fruit and vegetable deliveries between Uzbekistan and Russia, will be fully operational by the end of 2017., Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergey Levin said on 6 September 2017.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the II International Fruit and Vegetable Fair in Tashkent, he noted that Uzbekistan has great potential in agriculture sector and Russia pays much attention to increasing supplies of fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan.
Levin noted that in 2016, Uzbekistan increased the supply of fruit and vegetable products to Russia by two-fold. In his view, the volume of supplies will grow this year too.
Over the past period of this year, despite all climatic conditions, shipments have grown by about a quarter and continue to grow, he said.
He recalled that Uzbekistan and Russia signed an agreement on the creation of a “green corridor” for accelerated customs clearance of these products. He added that since July 2017 the “green customs corridor” is working in a test mode, but by the end of the year, it will work at full capacity.
Uzbekistan and Russia are completing the work on creating a “green corridor” in the field of phytosanitary control. Uzbek manufacturers and Russian control services have started working in the unified electronic system Argus Fito, which will contribute to a significant increase in trade turnover, Sergei Levin emphasized.
