Uzbekistan adopts programme for development of beekeeping

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan adopted a programme of measures for complex development of the beekeeping industry for the period 2017-2021.
On 16 October, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures to further develop the beekeeping industry in the republic”.
According to the decree, over 12,000 business entities work in the beekeeping industry. Last year, Uzbekistan increased production of honey by 20% - up to 12,000 tonnes.
The adopted program envisages growth of production of honey and its processing, as well as introduction of modern technologies in the process of honey production.
According to the programme, Uzbekistan plans to increase the production of honey products from 15,400 tonnes in 2017 to 23,700 tonnes by 2021.
The President of Uzbekistan also instructed to create the Association “Uzbekiston Asalarichilari” (Beekeepers of Uzbekistan).
The Association will implement measures to develop beekeeping in Uzbekistan and introduce scientifically sound methods and modern technologies into the process of honey production.
President exempted members of the Association from payment of customs payments (except customs registration fee) for imported products till 1 January 2023.
Aloqabank will create a leasing company, which will supply beehives, equipment and tools at the expense of banks’ loans and own funds of the leasing company.
