Intergovernmental agreement on interregional cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan enters into force

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An agreement between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Government of Kyrgyzstan on interregional cooperation entered into force on 21 November 2017, the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The agreement was signed on 5 September 2017 in Bishkek during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan.
The document is aimed at expanding and developing mutually beneficial cooperation between the regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in the trade, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, in the areas of agriculture, health, employment promotion, tourism and environmental protection, as well as in other areas of mutual interest.
Within the framework of the documents, the heads of the border regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will hold meetings on a quarterly basis.
Representatives of local authorities, law enforcement bodies and other organizations will take part in the meetings to timely resolve topical issues of interaction at the local level.
