Uzbek scientist becomes academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Director of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, academician Shavkat Salikhov was elected a foreign member of the Academy of Sciences of the People’s Republic of China.
The Uzbek scientist was awarded for his outstanding achievements in the field of science, UzA reported.
Shavkat Salikhov, conducting scientific research in the field of bioorganic chemistry and biotechnology, is the first scientist from Uzbekistan elected to the Academy of Sciences of China and the second among the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
So far, the only scientist elected as a foreign member from the CIS countries was the Russian scientist, Nobel Prize winner in physics Jores Alferov.
