Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov held meeting with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe on 10 January 2018.
The head of the Government of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov is in Tajikistan on a working visit. Aripov will take part in the meetings of the Uzbek-Tajik Intergovernmental Commissions on Trade and Economic Cooperation, as well as on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border, which will be held in Dushanbe.
During the meeting, the parties expressed their hope that the meetings of the intergovernmental commissions will be held at a high level and will be an important factor for strengthening the ties between the countries.
Abdulla Aripov and Emomali Rahmon discussed bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The parties considered issues on elimination of trade restrictions, simplification of the public transport system, reduction of tariffs for goods, restoration of railway communication, opening of existing border checkpoints, etc.
Emomali Rahmon stated that Tajikistan is ready to develop cooperation with Uzbekistan, including in the use of water and energy resources.
At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in combating terrorism, extremism and transnational crime.
The parties expressed hope for development of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and their readiness to strengthen the legal and regulatory framework of intergovernmental and interregional ties.
