Abdulaziz Kamilov meets with the Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia
Issues included in the Uzbek-Latvian agenda were discussed at the meeting. The main attention was paid to the state and prospects of interaction between the parliaments of the two countries, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It was noted that the sides traditionally have a similar vision on such vital priorities as strengthening the national independence and preservation of own distinct identity, building a stable democratic state with an open and competitive market economy, aspiration to equal and broad integration into the international community.
Taking into account that Latvia is the second largest trading partner of Uzbekistan among the member states of the European Union, the need to promote new programs and projects within the framework of trade, economic and investment cooperation was emphasized, where the important role is played by Uzbek-Latvian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
At the meeting, some problems of an international and regional nature were also considered.
Ambassador of Latvia Mihails Popkovs took part in the negotiations.
