Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev congratulated the staff of the Kandym gas processing complex (GPC) in Uzbekistan.
On 19 April, an opening ceremony of the Kandym gas processing complex took place in Uzbekistan.
“I congratulate you on the early start of the Kandym gas processing complex. This is an important event that underscores the importance of our joint efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan,” Medvedev said in a message.
“Thanks to the diligent work of the many thousands of engineers, geologists and builders, the complex was built in record time - in just two years. The company meets the latest technological requirements for processing efficiency and environmental safety. Today, with a capacity of 8.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, the complex will become one of the largest in Central Asia. And it will play a key role in the development of the Kandym deposit,” the Prime Minister stressed.
“The opening of the Kandym GPC promotes the further development of the oil and gas sector and the entire economy of Uzbekistan. And it is another clear confirmation of the wide opportunities for the Russian-Uzbek partnership in the energy sector. In fact, it is planned to produce more than 200 billion cubic meters of gas within the project Kandym-Khauzak-Shady,” he said.
“I would like to particularly note the significant contribution of the Russian investor - Lukoil - to the development of humanitarian projects in Kashkadarya and Bukhara regions. These projects, addressed to children in particular, are of great importance for the relations between our countries in the future,” Dmitry Medvedev underlined.
“I am convinced that new joint ventures will be implemented on the basis of the new gas processing complex, which will bring real benefits to the economies of Russia and Uzbekistan,” he said.
