Vladimir Norov appointed to post of SCO Secretary General

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representative of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov was appointed to the post of the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Norov was appointed to the post of SCO Secretary General during the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO, which was held in Qingdao from 9 to 10 June.
Vladimir Norov will serve as SCO Secretary General for the period from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2021.
Norov is the director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan. He will replace Rashid Alimov from Tajikistan.
