Uzbekistan’s industrial production hits 75.4 trln. soums in Jan-May
The main factor in the growth of total industrial output was the increase in production of manufacturing industry by 7.0% (contribution to the increase in industrial output – 5.4 points), mining and quarrying by 33.9% (5.0 points), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 1.4% (0.1 points) and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities by 39.8% (0.3 points).
The volume of production produced by enterprises of the mining and quarrying in January-May 2018 amounted to 12.9 trillion soums, or 17.1% of the total industrial output.
Compared to the corresponding period of the last year, there is an increase in the production of crushed stone by 1.8 times, kaolin – 2.0 times, gas condensate – 19.0% and natural gas - 6.3%, while there is a decrease in petroleum production by 9.4%, coal – 4.0%.
The volume of production produced by manufacturing enterprises in January-May 2018 made up 55.8 trillion soums, the growth rate to the same period of the last year was 7.0%.
In the structure of manufacturing, the share of high-tech industries was 1.2% (in January-May 2017 - 1.8%), medium-high-tech – 28.1% (20.4%), medium-low-tech – 31.6% (26.8%) and low-tech 39.1% (51.0%).
In comparison with the corresponding period of the last year in the manufacturing industry production of tractors increased by 5.3 times, paints and varnishes based on acrylic or vinyl polymers – 41.9%, automobile engines – 33.0%, motorcars (excluding specialized) - 22.4%, diesel fuel – 24.8%, vegetable oil – 9.6%, motor gasoline – 0.6% and cotton fiber - 1.9%, while the production of buses, trucks, portland cement and tobacco products decreased.
The volume of products produced by electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning enterprises amounted to 5.9 trillion soums (7.8% of the total industrial output).
In January-May 2018, compared with the same period of the last year in this industry production, transmission and distribution of electrical energy increased by 1.4%, production and distribution of gaseous fuels - by 0.8%.
The volume of products produced by water supply, sewage, waste management and remediation enterprises amounted to 792.8 billion soums (1.1% of the total industrial output).
Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year there is an increase in recyclable materials containing ferrous metals by 82.5%, recyclables containing aluminum by 49.1%, water treatment and distribution services by 24.2%, services in waste water removal, transportation and remediation by 21.8%.
As a result of measures taken to expand the assortment and stimulate the output of finished goods the production of consumer goods amounted to 23.1 trillion soums and, as compared to January-May 2017, increased by 5.5%, the share in the total industrial output was 30.6%.
Compared with January-May 2017 in the structure of consumer goods the share of non-food products increased from 50.6% to 61.1% in January-May 2018.
The largest share in the structure of industrial output belongs to Tashkent region and Tashkent city (16.3% of total output per each), Navoi region (11.8%), Andijan region (10.3%), Kashkadarya region (7.1%), Ferghana region (6.1%), while the smallest share - to Surkhandarya region and Jizzakh region (1.4% per each), Syrdarya region (2.0%), Namangan (2.2%) and Khorezm regions (2.7%).
It should be noted that the implementation of high-tech projects for the production of competitive products contributed to a significant increase in production of Surkhandarya region (+32.6% to January-May 2017), Andijan region (+27.3%), Khorezm region (+14.6%), Kashkadarya region (+110.1%) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (+11.3%).
Analysis of the differentiation of industrial production per capita shows the excess of the average national indicator (2.3 million soums) in Navoi region (9.23 million soums), Tashkent city (4.96 million soums), Tashkent region (4.29 million soums) and Andijan region (2.58 million soums).
At the regional level the high growth rates of average per capita industrial output were observed in Surkhandarya region (+29.8% to January-May 2017), Andijan region (+25.3%) and Khorezm region (+12.8%), while the low growth rates were marked in Bukhara region (-2.1%) and Samarkand region (-1.7%).
Dynamic development of industrial activity of small business entities ensured the growth of industrial production to the corresponding period of the previous year by 4.8%, the share of small business in industry was 28.7%.
At the regional level the largest share of small business was observed in Tashkent city (66.3% of the total regional industrial output), Namangan region (58.7%), Samarkand region (52.2%) and Jizzakh (54.4%), while the smallest share was registered in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (12.0%), Navoi region (12.0%), Tashkent region (16.0%) and Kashkadarya region (17.8%).
Currently there are 52,000 industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan, of which about 5,000 enterprises were newly created in the reporting period. Approximately 70% of newly created enterprises fall on Tashkent city, Ferghana, Tashkent, Andijan, Samarkand and Namangan regions.
