Uzbekistan to introduce concepts of "consumer basket" and "subsistence minimum"
The document introduces the concepts of "consumer basket" and "subsistence minimum", as well as determine the criteria for their calculation.
The decree was developed by the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan and published for discussion.
The draft resolution noted that the list of food products and the average daily minimum medical standards of their consumption do not correspond to the level of today’s consumption.
There is also no clear and transparent mechanism for informing the public about the cost and composition of the minimum consumer basket and the subsistence minimum. There is no methodology for calculating and some segments of the population remain dissatisfied with the size of pensions, benefits and wages paid.
The document will approve the list of food products and daily average minimum medical consumption rates necessary for a full and healthy diet. This list includes 46 items of products.
The regulation also determines the procedure for calculating the minimum consumer basket and the subsistence minimum.
