Uzbekistan plans to improve its position in Doing Business report

Tashkent, Uzbekistan ( -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures to further improve the rating of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the annual report of the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Doing Business” on 13 July.

The document said that Uzbekistan has improved its position in the Doing Business report of the World Bank and IFC from 166th place in 2012 to 74th place in 2017.

The resolution noted that the existing conditions for doing business in Uzbekistan still do not fully meet the requirements of international norms and standards.

Uzbek leader ordered to create favorable conditions for carrying out entrepreneurial activities and attracting foreign investments corresponding to the level of the top twenty countries in the Doing Business ranking by 2022.

The National Project Management Agency (NAPU) under the President of Uzbekistan was determined as the authorized body for coordination of work in the sphere of improving the rating.

The President of Uzbekistan approved a "road map" to improve Uzbekistan’s rating in the Doing Business report.

The NAPU and the Cabinet of Ministers were instructed to prepare concrete proposals on improving Uzbekistan’s positions in international ratings and indexes in this area by 1 January 2019.

The President instructed each year to critically examine Doing Business reports and make a roadmap for improving the business environment and legislation to improve the position of the country in the ranking.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry will conduct annual surveys among business entities to determine the effectiveness of implemented measures and introduction of legislative requirements into practice.

The document notes that the Uzbek delegation will hold talks with experts from the World Bank Group and the Doing Business team to substantiate the position of Uzbekistan.
