About 250,500 small enterprises and microforms work in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 August 2018, the number of operating small enterprises and microfirms in Uzbekistan reached 250,00 units, which rose by 8% year-on-year.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the bulk of operating small businesses and microfirms fell to share of Tashkent city – 56,500 units (22.6%), Tashkent region – 24,300 units (9.7%), Ferghana region – 22,000 units (8.8%) and Andijan region – 21,800 units (8.7%).

Of the total number of operating small businesses and micro-firms by type of economic activity, trade accounts for 67,600 units (27.0%), industry – 52,800 units (21.1%), construction – 27,100 units (10.8%), agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 22,700 units (9.1%), accommodation and food services – 18,600 units (7.4%), transportation and storage services – 12,500 units (5%), information and communication - 6,500 units (2.6%), healthcare and the provision of social services – 5,000 units (2.0%), as well as other types – 37,700 units (15.1%).

In January-July, 2018, the number of newly created small businesses and microfirms amounted to more than 29,800 units, which is 13.1% more than in the same period last year. A significant part of the total number of newly created small businesses fell to share of Tashkent city (7022 units), Tashkent region (3053 units), Samarkand region (2482 units) and Ferghana region (2372 units). The smallest falls on the Syrdarya (836 units), Khorezm (1101 units) and Navoi (1122 units) regions.

The largest part of newly created enterprises falls on trade - 7041 units, industry - 6554 units, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 3616 units, construction - 3867 units.

Number of enterprises in health and social services made up 738 units, information and communication - 750 units, and transportation and storage - 1156 units.
