Foreign Trade Minister to Attend 17th CAREC Ministerial Conference

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojaev will take part in the 17th Ministerial Conference of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
According to the press service of the Ministry, the conference will be held on 15 November 2018 in the city of Ashgabat. The theme of this year’s conference is “CAREC 2030: Trade Expansion and Diversification Assistance.”
During the visit, it is planned to hold meetings and negotiations with the leadership of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), as well as a number of other bilateral meetings with senior representatives of the countries participating in the CAREC conference.
The Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program was established in 1997 by the Asian Development Bank to encourage economic cooperation among the countries of the Central Asian region.
As of today, CAREC financing has been directed to the construction or reconstruction of 8,592 kilometers of roads and more than 5,103 railways along 6 transport corridors in order to increase connectivity and trade inside and outside the region. More than 9041 km of power lines have been built, which makes it possible to support electricity trading between the countries of Central and South Asia.
