Uzbek farmers harvest 6.12 million tonnes of grain and 2.3 million tonnes of cotton

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- This year, farmers of Uzbekistan managed to harvest 6.12 million tonnes of grain and 2.3 million tonnes of cotton despite all the difficulties. This was stated by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his congratulations to agricultural workers.

In his congratulations, the head of Uzbekistan noted that 8.66 million tonnes of vegetables and 2.41 million tonnes of potatoes were also grown in the country.

According to the President, the volume of harvested melons and gourds reached 1.6 million tonnes, fruit - 2.1 million tonnes and grapes -1.31 million tonnes. Farmers produced 18,000 tonnes of cocoons, 1.78 million tonnes of meat and 7.83 million tonnes of milk

Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that, in general, over the year of hard work, agricultural products totaled 58.18 trillion soums.

A striking confirmation of the great attention to the development of the sphere is the allocation of preferential loans to grain farms in the amount of 1 trillion 33 billion soums in the current season, which is 142 percent more compared to last year, cotton-growing farms - 5.13 trillion soums, which is 2.4 times more than last year.

“Next year it is planned to allocate almost 1.7 trillion soums from the State budget, as well as US$84 million from international financial institutions to improve the ameliorative state of irrigated lands,” the President said.

The head of Uzbekistan noted that in the next two years stable irrigation of 1 million 200 thousand hectares will be ensured, saving 1.7 billion cubic meters of water per year, and the reclamation condition of 600 thousand hectares of land will improve.

Next year, a number of investment projects with a total value of US$1.87 billion are planned to be realized in the sphere, which indicates how significant the amount of work ahead and responsibility is high, the head of state added.
