Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will ban the sale of energy drinks to people under the age of eighteen.
The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved the law “On introducing amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at improving the mechanisms for ensuring public order”.
According to the document, the sale of energy drinks to persons under the age of eighteen incurs an administrative penalty.
The sale of energy drinks to persons under the age of eighteen shall result in the imposition of a fine on citizens from five to ten, and on officials from seven to fifteen minimal sizes of salary.
The law also envisages measures to limit the advertising of energy drinks. In particular, it is prohibited to advertise energy drinks from 7 am to 10 pm on television and radio.
Advertising energy drinks must be accompanied by a warning about the dangers of using such drinks above the established rate, as well as a list of persons who are contraindicated.
As noted, according to the analysis of the European Agency for Food Security (EFSA), 70 percent of boys and girls at the age of 18-29 years consume energy drinks with an addition to alcohol. Experts emphasize that this drunkenness is much more dangerous than alcohol poisoning. In addition, according to the data obtained, the constant consumption of energy drinks entails an increase in heart attacks in minors, a decrease in vision and the appearance of mental defects in them.
