Uzbekistan and India discuss key issues of bilateral and regional agenda
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 January 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India Sushma Swaraj in Samarkand, who is in our country on a working visit.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, during the meeting, key issues of the bilateral and regional agenda were considered.
As it was emphasized in the conversation, the results of the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to India on 30 September – 1 October 2018 and the talks held with the Indian leadership confirmed the political will of the leaders of the two countries to impart new dynamics to the entire spectrum of the Uzbek-Indian dialogue.
The ministers discussed the practical aspects of the upcoming participation of the Uzbek delegation in the Dynamic Gujarat - 2019 International Investment Summit and the planned summit talks.
As part of an exchange of views on bilateral events in 2019, the parties expressed interest in enhancing inter-parliamentary, inter-MFA relations, strengthening cooperation between business and financial institutions on the platform of the Uzbek-Indian Business Council and the Center for Entrepreneurship Development in Tashkent.
The ministers spoke in favor of developing cooperation in the transport and communications sphere, including the launch of trans-Afghan transit corridors.
The above and other regional issues are planned to be discussed at the first ministerial meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue, which opens in Samarkand, with the participation of Afghanistan.
The ministers expressed confidence that the new format of interaction between the Central Asian states and India will consolidate efforts to strengthen and expand cooperation, open up new opportunities for the development of each of the participating countries.
The meeting also addressed other issues of mutual interest.
