Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan intends to reform the process of admission of students to higher educational institutions.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On the State Program for the Implementation of the Action Strategy for the five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017–2021 in the “Year of Active Investments and Social Development”.
According to the document, higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan will be able to independently determine the student enrollment quota from 2019-202 academic year.
Universities in determining quotas should take into account future needs of the economy and the social sphere, as well as the ability of universities to organize quality training.
Currently, the State Commission on Admission to Educational Institutions of Uzbekistan formed admission quotas.
It is also planned in stages from the 2019/2020 academic year to introduce the procedure for accepting applicants’ documents to universities through public service centers. At the same time, from the new academic year, applicants have the right to apply simultaneously to several universities.
According to the decree, separate quotas will be allocated for applicants from among those, who have completed urgent military service and have a recommendation from the command of military units for admission to universities on the basis of a competition held among these applicants.
