India and Uzbekistan expand innovative cooperation in agricultural and pharmaceutical sectors

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the 9th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019, which was held in the city of Gandhinagar of the state of Gujarat.
As a result of the negotiations, the Minister of Innovative Development Ibrohim Abdurahmonov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture S.Khojayev, Khokim of Andijan region Sh.Abdurakhmanov, as well as the Managing Director of Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Ltd. K.S. Randhawa agreed to create an agro-cluster. The goal of partnership is introduction of innovative technologies, advanced agrotechnical methods in agriculture of the country.
The agro-cluster will be engaged in cultivation and production of crops and fish products, processing, delivery and marketing. The agro-cluster will occupy 15-20 thousand hectares and will be located in Andijan region. The cluster method is expected to be widely used in other regions of Uzbekistan.
It is worth noting that Gujarat is leading throughout India in the cultivation of cotton, peanuts, tobacco and cane sugar, and there are also plantations of wheat and various cereals in the state. In addition, Gujarat is the first in the production of milk and butter, meat, eggs, vegetable oil and sugar.
On 19 January, the Minister of Innovation Development Ibrohim Abdurahmonov and the head of Bharat Biotech International, operating in the Genome Valley of Hyderabad, Venkatraman Sivaramakrishnan, agreed to enter into a partnership to establish long-term cooperation in the field of vaccine transfer technology, research and development of vaccine production technologies and vaccine production in accordance with the requirements of Uzbekistan.
At the initial stage of cooperation, the company will deliver the vaccine to Uzbekistan to prevent rotavirus diarrhea at a price 50% lower than the price of supply of the current rotavirus vaccine, which Uzbekistan is currently purchasing.
Following this, Bharat will supply ready-made raw materials for production of ROTAVAC to Uzbekistan as part of the initial technology transfer phase leading to the final full technology transfer for the product.
As part of the organization of vaccine production in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Innovation Development will initiate a program on organization of the necessary infrastructure (land, buildings, equipment, etc.) and regulatory permits on the basis of a public-private partnership, and Bharat will ensure the free transfer of modern technologies and know-how, vaccine, technical expertise, specialists and staff training, as well as coordination of initial local production.
