EUROCEMENT group to invest US$200 million to projects in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s Eurocement Group will invest US$200 million in its investment projects in Uzbekistan in the coming years. This became known after meeting with company president Mikhail Skorokhod at Chamber of Accounts of Uzbekistan.
At the last meeting in the Chamber of Accounts of Uzbekistan, issues of implementation of projects included in the “road map” and approved by the president’s decree “On measures to further expand bilateral strategic cooperation and allied relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation” were considered.
The largest project is construction in Tashkent region of a new technological line for production of cement with a capacity of 3 million tons per year on the basis of Akhangarancement.
Foreign direct investment is estimated at US$160 million. Another US$40 million will be spent on the modernization and reconstruction of the plant building materials and structures, the organization of the production of concrete products, refractory bricks and insulation materials in Tashkent.
It should be recalled that in the middle of October 2018, a stone of the foundation of a new cement plant at Akhangaracement was laid.
The potential capacity of the cement market in Uzbekistan by 2022 is estimated by the company at 15-18 million tons. At the same time, the republic is one of the leaders in the implementation of energy efficient technologies and has the highest capacity utilization rate in the CIS (95-97%).
