Uzbekistan and Latvia intend to create a modern transport and logistics center

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting with the head of the SIA SV Gulbis (Latvia) Vyacheslav Novikov was held at the Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways).
The parties discussed construction of a modern transport and logistics center on the territory of the joint-stock company Uztemiryulkonteyner at the expense of direct investments, the press service of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari said in a statement.
It was noted that for construction of a new complex, a total area of 16 hectares was allocated, of which 20 thousand square meters for a container terminal. The project includes the creation of a closed storage area of 25,000 square meters, including 14,000 square meters for certain types of products, as well as the introduction of an automated warehouse management system. In addition, the premises will be located building service center, customs control and administration.
The new logistics center will receive up to 3 million tonnes of cargo a year, respectively, 350 new jobs will be created. It is planned to create a number of conditions for trucks. The center will be equipped with technological equipment imported from Sweden and Germany.
It should be noted that the transport and logistics center is designed to provide services for sorting railway cars, loading and unloading cargo, its storage, registration, and marking. The commissioning of the new facility is scheduled for the end of the current year.
At the end of the meeting, a bilateral memorandum was signed on further development of mutually beneficial relations between the joint-stock company Uztemiryulkonteyner and SIA SV Gulbis.
