Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Russia have not yet signed an intergovernmental agreement on oil supplies from the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan. This was reported by Russian media with reference to the head of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.
In November 2018, Novak said that the Russian Federation hopes to agree on an intergovernmental agreement before the end of the year. He noted that the work on the document involved technical issues - on oil delivery, oil quality and so on.
In April 2018, Novak reported that Russia and Uzbekistan had entered the final stage of negotiations on an intergovernmental agreement on oil supplies. Sergei Andronov, Vice-President of Transneft, stated that applications for pumping oil from Russia to Uzbekistan for 2018 are 500,000 tonnes, and for 2019 - about 1 million tonnes.
In September, the chairman of the board of Uzbekneftegaz, Alisher Sultanov, informed RIA Novosti that the company intends to import up to 1 million tonnes of oil per year during 2018-2020. And from 2021, after the launch of the oil refining complex in Jizzakh region, to increase the volume of imports to 5 million tonnes per year.
