Regional Meeting of UK Ambassadors in Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan ( -- The British Embassy in Tashkent hosted a regional meeting of UK Ambassadors on 26 March 2010, the embassy said on 8 April.

The meeting was attended by the British Ambassadors in Astana, Dushanbe, Ashgabat and Tashkent, and the Heads of the Offices of the UK's Department for International Development in Bishkek and Dushanbe.

The Head of the Foreign & Commonwealth's Central Asia Section, Mr Martin Fenner, and the Head of the FCO Eastern Research Group, Mr Alan Parfitt, also visited Tashkent to attend the event.

The participants of the meeting discussed developments in the region, took part in a video conference with the British Ambassador in Kabul, and met regional representatives of international organisations based in Tashkent.

They also took part in a Question & Answer session over lunch with HE Mr Vladimir Norov, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and HE Mr Sadyk Safaev, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate.
