Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 August 2025, at the Kavatsite beach in the city of Sozopol, Bulgaria, a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan, J.M., born in 2003 and residing in the Tashkent region, tragically died. This information was reported by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.

According to available information, the tragedy occurred during an attempt to rescue a Ukrainian girl from drowning. The young man lost control due to strong waves and became trapped between large underwater rocks.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Istanbul and the Honorary Consulate in Bulgaria are in constant contact with Bulgarian law enforcement agencies, local rescue services, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Bulgaria.

According to the latest data provided by the Burgas regional administration, Sozopol city authorities, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, efforts to recover the body from beneath the rocks in the sea continue due to ongoing strong waves.

The Consulate General has taken the situation under its control.
