About 500 civil servants trained in identifying and reducing corruption risks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Around 500 representatives of government agencies, organizations, and internal compliance control units took part in a two-day intensive seminar dedicated to preventing corruption and improving the effectiveness of internal control systems.
The event, jointly organized by the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan, the Delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), was part of broader reforms aimed at shifting from punitive measures to preventive mechanisms for detecting corruption risks.
The new approach, outlined by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in March 2025, envisions compliance moving beyond a formal function to become a practical tool for identifying risks, closing gaps, and embedding principles of integrity and transparency in the daily work of state institutions.
The seminar program included studying key regulatory acts, working with the E-anticor.uz platform and its new module, as well as analyzing mistakes identified in the 2025 rating assessment. Participants engaged in practical sessions with invited European experts on managing conflicts of interest, assessing public officials’ resilience to corruption risks, and applying international practices to minimize them.
Successful practices of ministries and organizations were presented, along with speeches by representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Justice, and the “Public Opinion” Center. Group work was also conducted to develop proposals for reducing bureaucracy and strengthening compliance systems.
This comprehensive approach will enable government institutions to identify and eliminate corruption risks more promptly, optimize processes, and adopt digital solutions. As a result, citizens will benefit from more transparent and efficient public services, while unified standards of integrity and openness will be entrenched across all state bodies.
The event was held within the framework of the joint project of the Anti-Corruption Agency and UNDP, “Strengthening the National Anti-Corruption Ecosystem in Uzbekistan,” funded by the European Union.
