Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During his official visit to Uzbekistan, Governor of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov, together with members of the St. Petersburg delegation and Russia’s Chargé d’Affaires in Uzbekistan Andrey Lanchikov, visited the “Mass Graves” memorial complex at the Volgograd Cemetery-Memorial in Tashkent.

During the ceremony, participants laid flowers at the Eternal Flame, the “Grieving Mother” sculpture, the “Leningrad” memorial plaque on the Alley of Hero Cities, as well as the plaque dedicated to Uzbek soldiers who defended Leningrad.

“Saint Petersburg honors the memory of soldiers from Uzbekistan who defended besieged Leningrad and took part in the battles of the Leningrad Front. In their honor, a special memorial plaque has been installed at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery,” emphasized Alexander Beglov.
