Anorbank: Kidnapping of Olimov Unrelated to Bank Operations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Anorbank has issued an official statement regarding recent media reports concerning an incident involving one of its shareholders in Paris.

According to the French newspaper Le Monde, Kahramonjon Olimov, the owner of Anorbank, was reportedly kidnapped in central Paris, subjected to violence, and later released after a ransom was paid.

In its official statement, the bank emphasized that the incident is strictly personal in nature and has no connection to the bank’s operations. “This situation does not affect the operational activities of Anorbank. All branches, services, and digital channels continue to function as usual. Implementation of current and strategic projects proceeds according to approved plans,” the bank said.

Anorbank urged media representatives to adhere to ethical standards in covering the situation, refrain from spreading unverified information, and respect the privacy of the victim. The bank noted that excessive public discussion of the incident could interfere with the ongoing investigation and infringe on the victim’s right to personal privacy.

The statement also expressed gratitude to the bank’s clients, partners, and employees who have responded to the news with understanding and compassion. “During this period of heightened media sensitivity, we deeply value the trust, loyalty, and support of our community. This reflects the strength of our mutual respect and reaffirms our unwavering commitment to transparency, openness, and accountability,” the statement concluded.
