Anvar Juraev Released Following Sentence Reduction
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Former head of the joint-stock company Toshshakhartranskhizmat, Anvar Juraev, has been released just four months after his conviction.
According to the press service of the Tashkent city courts, the decision to release him was made by the appellate court on June 5.
In February 2025, Juraev had been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison on charges of embezzlement of state funds and official forgery. However, the appellate court reduced his sentence, taking into account the partial repayment of damages, replacing the prison term with four and a half years of restricted freedom.
As a result, the former enterprise head was freed nearly seven years ahead of schedule. At the same time, the court prohibited Juraev from holding executive or financially responsible positions within the Toshshakhartranskhizmat system for the next three years.
