Basis Bay Considering Construction of Data Center in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Malaysian IT company Basis Bay is exploring the possibility of establishing a data center in Uzbekistan. The news followed a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Karomiddin Gadoev and the company’s founder, Praba Thiagarajah, according to the Dunyo news agency.
Founded in 1996, Basis Bay is one of Malaysia’s leading IT firms. In 2009, it launched one of Asia’s first “green” data centers and currently operates four such facilities in the Kuala Lumpur area.
During the talks, the parties agreed to organize a visit by a team of experts to Uzbekistan to study demand for data center services and assess potential sites for construction. Basis Bay views Uzbekistan as a strategic gateway to the Central Asian market.
