CIS interior ministers discuss cooperation in combating crime and cyber threats
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states, held on 12 August in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation.
Alongside Uzbekistan, delegations from the interior ministries of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Russian Federation participated, as well as the Director of the Bureau for the Coordination of Combating Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crimes in the CIS, the Head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, and senior representatives of the CIS Executive Committee.
The Council discussed priority areas of cooperation between the interior ministries of CIS countries and reviewed the progress of interstate programmes in the fight against crime.
Detailed negotiations were held on improving cooperation in forensic expertise, enhancing information exchange in the investigation of crimes in the field of information and communication technologies, training personnel under higher and supplementary education programmes in road safety, and cooperation in combating illegal migration.
Following the meeting, the heads of delegations signed the Council’s resolutions and the protocol approved by the presiding officer.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan also held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the Russian Federation and Belarus.
During these talks, the parties exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation in law enforcement, including the fight against transnational organized crime, terrorism, illicit drug trafficking, and cybercrime, as well as discussed prospects for joint personnel training and professional development.
All events were held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere. The parties agreed to maintain institutional contacts and implement joint projects aimed at achieving practical results.
