Donald Trump Nominates Tashkent Native as U.S. Ambassador to India
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the nomination of Tashkent-born Sergey Gorokhovsky, better known as Sergio Gor, as Ambassador of the United States to India, as well as his appointment as Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.
Gor was born in Tashkent in 1986 and currently heads the White House personnel office. He will retain his present role until the Senate confirms him in his new position.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Gor as “a wonderful friend” who has supported him for many years and taken an active part in his election campaigns.
The appointment of Sergio Gor marks an important step in strengthening U.S. diplomatic relations with India and with the regions of South and Central Asia.
