Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 July, reports of a serious traffic accident involving a police patrol vehicle began circulating on social media. The Tashkent Region Department of Internal Affairs has issued an official statement on the incident.

According to the statement, the double accident occurred around 5:00 a.m. at the 39th kilometer of the A373 Tashkent–Osh highway, within the Akhangaran district. The initial collision involved a Gentra and a Cobalt. Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash.

A road patrol crew arrived at the scene in a marked Lacetti vehicle with emergency lights on. The patrol car was parked on the right side of the road. At that moment, the driver of a HOWO truck — reportedly due to inattention and lack of driving experience — crashed into the side of the police vehicle, resulting in a second accident. Again, no injuries were reported.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
