Eco Park to host charity event on 26 June
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent’s Eco Park will host a charity ecologic campaign “NGOs of Uzbekistan in support of children of Muinak district of Karakalpakstan” on 26 June 2013.

The event will also include a ceremony of awarding the winners of the contest “Obod uyim” – the first round of the Grant programme on support of social important projects of the regional NGOs of Uzbekistan.

The campaign is organized by the Social Initiatives Support Fund, Fund Forum, Public Fund for support of NGOs and other institutes of civil society under the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Mahalla Foundation.

The event will include a photo exhibition “One day from life of NGOs of Uzbekistan”, which will brief the participants on activities on NGOs in such areas as healthcare, education, social protection, culture, etc. The winners of the grant programme will brief the participants about their projects. It is also planned to hold a charity auction, organized by the NGOs. The raised funds will be directed to purchase of equipment and tools to kindergartens of Muinak district.

Within a year, Hydrolife Bottlers will provide 12,000 bottles or 240 tonnes of drinking water to nine kindergartens of Muinak district. Uzbek celebrities will also present their songs.

The campaign will be completed with the awarding of the contest “Obod Uyum” – the first round of the Grant programme on support of social important projects of the regional NGOs of Uzbekistan, which was organized by Public Fund for support of NGOs and other institutes of civil society under the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

Some 130 projects from all regions of Uzbekistan were received to the contest and the expert council selected 27 of them. They will receive 350 million soums of grants in total.

The contest “Obod Uyum” is directed at improving rural infrastructure through attracting NGOs in solving such problems as road repairing, improving sanitary conditions, constructing children playgrounds, etc.

Some 714,633 people benefited from the projects, implemented within the grant programme for 2010-2012. About 433 projects were received and 120 of them received financing.
