Thailand were beaten 2-1 by Indonesia and will remain in Asia/Oceania Group I.
Suchanan Viratprasert got Thailand off to a winning start when Indonesian Vivien Silfany retired in the second set of their match.
An unsatisfying finale continued when Nudnida Luangnam retired in the second set of her second singles match against Lavinia Tananta.
