Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ferghana region is being positioned as a promising manufacturing center for technical workwear and personal protective equipment (PPE) for leading German companies, further strengthening Uzbekistan’s role as a key European partner in this sector.

During a visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, a delegation from Ferghana region led by regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov held a series of negotiations with representatives of well-known German brands.

In particular, a meeting took place with the leadership of Engelbert Strauss — Europe’s largest producer of workwear and PPE. The parties discussed the possibility of establishing a joint venture in Ferghana, as well as the potential to access the European market through localized production.

Talks were also held with the company Weitblick, which specializes in professional apparel for the medical, hospitality, and logistics sectors. Discussions focused on a phased localization of production facilities in Uzbekistan with a focus on export to European Union countries.

Weitblick’s products are already present in markets such as Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Poland. Establishing a manufacturing base in Ferghana will significantly enhance the company's competitive position in Europe by leveraging Uzbekistan’s cost-effective advantages.

The implementation of these projects marks an important step in deepening Uzbek-German industrial cooperation and creating new employment opportunities in the region.
