Girts Jaunzems Assumes Office as Latvia’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Girts Jaunzems has officially assumed his duties as Latvia’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, presenting copies of his credentials to Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the long-standing ties between the two countries and exploring new areas for mutually beneficial cooperation, both bilaterally and within broader regional platforms.
The 46-year-old career diplomat succeeds Reinis Trokša, who headed Latvia’s diplomatic mission from 2021 to 2025.
Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Latvia were established on November 3, 1992.
