Medical Facility Employees Detained in Bukhara Region for Corruption in Bedding Procurement
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A case of corruption has been uncovered at the Ollot District Medical Association in connection with the procurement of bedding.
The chief accountant, together with his deputy, signed a contract with a private company for the supply of 400 sets of bedding, deliberately inflating the price from 90,000 to 190,000 soums per unit. As a result, the total expenditure was recorded at 76 million soums.
In exchange for awarding the contract, the suspects demanded a kickback of 40 million soums from the company’s representative. During a joint special operation conducted by the State Security Service’s Bukhara Regional Directorate and the Department under the General Prosecutor’s Office, they were caught red-handed while receiving 32 million soums.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 2, Clauses “v” and “g” of Articles 25 and 167 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Investigative measures are ongoing.
