Memorandum Signed in Cairo on Seed Potato Cultivation Using Egyptian Technologies

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An Uzbek-Egyptian agricultural business forum was held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, according to the information agency “Dunyo.”

The event brought together representatives of the business community from the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan and the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Uzbek delegation, which included the heads of Agro Gold Premium, Kitob Yetti Hazina, and Shakhrisabz Premium, was led by First Deputy Governor of the region Ulugbek Uzokov.

The Egyptian side was represented by the leadership of the Egyptian Agricultural Research Center and representatives of several major agribusiness and investment companies, including EFC Plants Tissue Culture S.A.E., Daltex Corporation, Ms Al Saad Group, Nile Sugar, Pharaoh for Agriculture and Investment, KHBC, and others.

The main goal of the forum was to explore Egypt’s advanced expertise in cultivating agricultural crops—particularly potatoes and sugar beets—and to discuss the potential for applying these technologies in Uzbekistan to produce high-quality seed potatoes. The forum also focused on attracting investment into Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.

The event featured thematic discussions and bilateral negotiations in both G2B (government-to-business) and B2B (business-to-business) formats.

As a result of the forum, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between EFC Plants and Agro Gold Premium, providing for the cultivation of high-yield seed potatoes using Egyptian technologies.

The next stage of the partnership will involve implementing a project to localize the full production cycle of seed potato farming in Uzbekistan.

In addition, an agreement was reached for a visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation headed by Ahmed El-Naggar, CEO of Daltex Corporation.

During the upcoming visit, the two sides plan to exchange expertise on reclaiming desert and virgin lands, introduce modern irrigation systems, and explore new areas and prospects for further cooperation in the agricultural sector.
