Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Mini-truck production has officially been launched in the Surkhandarya region, the regional hokimiyat’s press service reports.

The project, implemented in Denau district with total investments of US$30 million, has an annual production capacity of 5,000 units.

Supported by the “Uzeltekhsanoat” Association and the regional hokimiyat, the initiative has created 150 new jobs. The project is spearheaded by Humo New Energy. In the next stage, the company plans to begin producing light electric trucks.

According to the Unified State Register of Enterprises and Organizations (EGRPO), Humo New Energy was registered in February 2018. With charter capital of 42.47 billion soums, the enterprise is engaged in freshwater fishing.

In May this year, China’s Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Group, proposed building an automobile plant in the Surkhandarya region, presenting several models of electric vans, mini-trucks, and multipurpose vehicles (MPVs).

The regional hokimiyat and Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor agreed to hold extended negotiations with experts to study the project’s technical and economic feasibility and assess its implementation prospects.
