Oppenheimer to Invest US$1.2 Billion in Three Major Projects in Andijan Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The American investment firm Oppenheimer has expressed its intention to finance three large-scale projects in Andijan region, with a total value of US$1.2 billion, according to the press service of the regional hokimiyat.
A delegation led by Andijan region hokim Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov held talks in Washington with Oppenheimer Managing Director John Tonelli, during which key regional projects were discussed.
Proposals include the creation of a US$180 million textile industrial zone featuring modern production and processing facilities.
Plans also involve constructing a US$20 million artificial lake to transform Khanabad into an attractive tourist destination for both local and international visitors, as well as a major urban development project, “New Andijan,” with a total investment of US$1 billion.
Following the negotiations, Oppenheimer representatives confirmed their readiness to participate in financing these major regional initiatives.
