Uzbek leader expresses condolences to Russian leader

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov extended his condolences to the President of Russia Dmitriy Medvedev in connection with tragic plane crash, which claimed lives of Lokomotiv hockey team players and aircraft crew.

The Uzbek President Islam Karimov expressed his frank condolences and extended words of sympathy to relatives and friends of accident victims.

The Yak-42 plane, carrying the Lokomotiv hockey team players, crashed near Yaroslavl on Wednesday, 7 September 2011.

Two of the 45 people on board survived but remain in a critical condition: crew member Alexander Sizov and hockey player Alexander Galimov.

Three days of mourning have been declared in the Yaroslavl Region.
