Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Jizzakh region headed by deputy governor Azim Ahmedkhojaev visited the Russian Federation on 17-19 April 2019.
The visit began with a large presentation of the trade, investment and tourism potential of the region at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia with the participation of representatives of official and business circles of the two countries.
Opening the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botirjon Asadov said that at the present stage, the Uzbek-Russian relations are experiencing an unprecedented rise. This was made possible by the political will of the leaders of the two states - Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin, who regularly hold bilateral talks, meet at international summits and discuss issues of mutually beneficial cooperation during telephone conversations.
The importance of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation in April 2017 was emphasized. New horizons of interaction were opened by the state visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan in October 2018, within the framework of which the Forum of interregional cooperation was held for the first time, which laid the strategic basis for building and developing partnerships between administrative and territorial units of the two countries.
Azim Ahmedkhojaev, deputy governor of Jizzakh region, introduced those present to the region in the areas of trade, investment and tourism.
He presented information on the current economic development of the region, measures, undertaken in the region for the modernization and technological re-equipment of industrial enterprises, improvement of the business climate, priority areas of investment cooperation, including in the framework of free economic zones.
In this context, potential investors get information on tax, customs and other benefits and preferences to companies, which operate in the territories of Jizzakh free economic zone, the Zaamin Farm pharmaceutical industrial zone and five small industrial zones.
A video was presented to the attention of the public, which clearly showed the region’s huge potential for investment. The event also held a separate presentation of the tourism potential of Jizzakh region, which aroused great interest among the audience.
Business contacts were continued during the cooperation exchange in the formats of "B2B" and "B2G". Russian businessmen interested in establishing cooperation with Jizzakh region, were able to meet and discuss the possibilities of industrial cooperation, ask their questions and get answers to them, design plans for the future.
In addition, the Embassy of Uzbekistan has become a venue for rich business negotiations between officials of the regional Khokimiyat and representatives of a number of Russian companies. Among them, in particular, Stroyinvestug LLC, Tavif Trading House LLC, Anis-Print LLC, Rosagromarket JSC, Asia-Invest Bank JSC, Pharmsintez JSC, Region Group of Companies and many others.
Among the significant results of the presentation at the Embassy, we can mention, for example, the plans of Regional Alliance for Medical Waste Disposal Holding LLC to build a center for medical waste disposal in Jizzakh region, agreements on the sale of Jizzkahk textile products in a number of Russian regions, the intention of LLC "Stroyinvestug" to build a large shopping and entertainment center in the city of Jizzakh.
In addition, the regional Khokimiyat signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Anis-Print, which provides for the establishment of food production using a shock freezing system. It is expected that the total investment will be about US$5 million.
With the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Moscow, the delegation of Jizzakh region also held a series of meetings with Russian companies. Thus, during the negotiations with the lighting corporation “Boos Lighting Group”, the details of the project “Lighting the youth park in the city of Jizzakh” were discussed.
It should be noted that the principal agreement on the implementation of this project was reached during the visit of the delegation of “Boos Lighting Group” to Jizzakh region in February of this year. At the meeting, held in the form of an interactive dialogue, the parties made additional adjustments and proposals on this issue. In addition, the Russian corporation has expressed interest in entering the market of Uzbekistan with the organization of high-grade production of its products on the territory of our republic.
The meeting with the officials of the Moscow representative offices of Marubeni Corporation and Canon Medical Systems Corporation was devoted to exploring the possibility of creating a Multidisciplinary Medical Cluster in Jizzakh region. The project is implemented with the financial support of the Russian Export Center, and Japanese corporations have taken over the technological equipment of the new cluster. Following the negotiations, it was decided to establish a working group to activate the pre-project stages, identify responsible persons, approve the appropriate Roadmap and clarify the project financing mechanisms.
A meeting was held in the Zelenograd Administrative District of Moscow with the participation of representatives of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Guild for the Development of Entrepreneurship in the Healthcare and Medical Industry, the Treasury Enterprise "Zelenograd Development Corporation" and a number of private business entities. The Uzbek delegation acquainted the Russian partners with the activities of the Zaamin-pharm pharmaceutical industrial zone, the benefits and preferences in force here, and presented specific investment proposals for possible implementation.
On the second day, the delegation of Jizzakh region, accompanied by representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, went to Rostov region.
During the meeting with the Deputy Governor of the region, Yury Molodchenko, the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic and investment areas were discussed in detail. An agreement was reached on the signing in the near future of the Agreement on cooperation between Jizzakh and Rostov regions.
An important event of the visit was a round table on the prospects for cooperation between the two regions, with the participation of representatives of official and business circles. Welcoming the participants of the event, the Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region, Yury Molodchenko, recalled that 2018 was full of events for both regions, in particular in terms of reciprocal visits. Thus, a delegation led by the Governor of the Rostov Region took part in the First Russian-Uzbek Forum of Interregional Cooperation in October in Tashkent. This year, the Don delegation participated in the XIX International Food Industry Exhibition "UZFood 2019", held April 3-5 in the Uzbek capital.
Representatives of the administrations of Jizzakh and Rostov regions, who spoke later, spoke in detail about the existing opportunities of the investment partnership and outlined specific projects for possible joint implementation.
Following the results of the “round table”, the administration of Rostov region expressed its intention to establish close partnerships at the regional level with the cities of Jizzakh region, including Zaamin district. At the same time, an agreement on further cooperation and practical measures was signed between the khokimiyat of Jizzakh region and the All-Russian public organization “Business Russia”.
It also became known about the plans of the administration of the Rostov region to create in the near future a special Working Group for the systematic and timely implementation of the agreements reached.
As part of the visit to the region, the delegation of Jizzakh region also held meetings with representatives of the All-Russian Public Organization “Business Russia”, Aston and other companies.
