Progress of work to increase the level of socio-economic development of Karakalpakstan studied

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the period from 22 to 25 September 2020, a working group led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and consisting of heads of ministries, departments and local authorities in a field format monitored the implementation of measures and initiatives to increase the level of socio-economic development of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as the execution of instructions given during the previous departure of the group in early September this year.
The members of the working group, through direct meetings with entrepreneurs, studied the state of ongoing investment projects, discussed existing issues and developed practical measures to resolve them, the adoption of which will significantly speed up the commissioning of industrial and agricultural enterprises that are being created. The priority of attracting investments in the most promising sectors - points of economic growth, in order to achieve the maximum economic effect in the shortest possible time - was emphasized.
An analysis was also made of the effectiveness of the work being done to build up the industrial and export potential of the region by restoring idle or not working at full capacity of industrial enterprises and providing them with comprehensive support in establishing production and foreign trade activities.
Particular emphasis was placed on the development of industrial cooperation and increasing employment of the local population through the development of home-based work in the spheres of poultry farming, fish farming and animal husbandry in order to create additional opportunities for stable income, which is especially important in the context of the current challenges facing the economy in connection with the negative consequences of the pandemic. ...
Instructions were given to work out additional measures to develop entrepreneurship in districts and cities of the region, as one of the most important points of economic growth and the main source of employment for the population. The need was emphasized to develop systemic measures to create favorable conditions for the development of small and medium-sized businesses, as well as to introduce a mechanism for the prompt solution of emerging problems on the ground.
Special attention was paid to the measures taken to develop the spheres of education, health care, culture and sports in the region - instructions were given to establish mechanisms for the effective operation of existing and newly created facilities in order to provide the population with high-quality social services.
Based on the results of the visit, the responsible heads of the relevant ministries and departments were given targeted instructions to establish coordinated work aimed at concrete results in further increasing the level of socio-economic development of the region, as well as increasing the well-being of the population.
