Cooperation establishes between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Industrial Association of Portugal

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Portugal (with a residence in Paris) Sardor Rustambayev took part in online negotiations between representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Uzbekistan, the Uzcharmsanoat Association and the Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP), Dunyo news agency reported.
During the event, the Portuguese side was informed that since 10 April 2021, Uzbekistan has become one of the beneficiary countries of the EU GSP + preferences program. It was noted that obtaining this status will increase the supply of products of Uzbek manufacturers-exporters to the EU countries, including Portugal.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Uzcharmsanoat presented information on the potential of Uzbekistan, as well as investment projects in the leather and footwear industry and opportunities for developing cooperation.
In turn, the participant of the meeting, Vice President of "AIP" Jorge Pais, highly appreciated the economic reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and the policy of creating favorable conditions for business development, a pragmatic approach to the development of economic and trade relations.
He confirmed the readiness of "AIP" to assist in the establishment and development of cooperation between the companies of the two countries. As a practical step, the Portuguese side proposed to develop a draft Agreement on cooperation between the CCI and "AIP", which will confirm the readiness of the parties to support cooperation between Uzbek and Portuguese companies.
In addition, an agreement was reached on the regular distribution of information and samples of Uzbek products in the textile, leather and other fields by the AIP Association among the business circles of Portugal.
