Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to further expand cooperation with international organizations in the fields of culture, science and education, healthcare, sports and tourism, humanitarian relations, the Department for Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation, Tourism was established within the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and sports.
The new division plays a coordinating role in the implementation of the foreign policy tasks of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the entrusted areas, ensuring the country's active position in the global dialogue of civilizations, promoting its positive image on the world stage.
It takes part in the search, return, including by obtaining copies or duplicates of the originals, of the national cultural and scientific heritage of Uzbekistan, stored in foreign museum funds, archives and collections.
The department provides assistance in expanding cooperation and implementing joint projects for the study and presentation of the Uzbek language, culture, history, and literature abroad. It takes measures to organize internships for students, conclude interuniversity and interacademic agreements and memorandums in areas within the competence of the Office.
Priority in the activities of the new office will be given to the active use of "soft power" tools, public, cultural and sports diplomacy.
From 1 July 2022 Anvar Abdukhalimov was appointed as head of the Department, concurrently being an adviser to the minister on improving the efficiency of spiritual and educational work, ensuring compliance with the legislation on the state language.
