President Inspects New Road Tunnel on Yangi Uzbekistan Street in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the newly constructed road tunnel on Yangi Uzbekistan Street in Tashkent.

Developing road infrastructure and ensuring smooth traffic flow remain a priority, especially for the capital, where the population is growing and urban boundaries are expanding.

In recent years, Yangi Uzbekistan Street has seen the construction of a park, residential complexes, a university, and the Olympic Village. In the future, this street is expected to become one of the main arteries leading to the new city of New Tashkent.

The new tunnel, 468 meters long and 25 meters wide, can accommodate over 10,000 vehicles per hour. A green zone has been created above the tunnel to ensure safe pedestrian movement between Yangi Uzbekistan Park and the Olympic Village. A tunnel and station for a future metro line have also been constructed in the same direction.

During the inspection, it was noted that the project was implemented with full consideration of environmental requirements. The new tunnel is expected to cut travel time for vehicles in half, save approximately one ton of fuel per day, and reduce harmful emissions by two tons.

The President emphasized that the construction meets modern standards, contributes to creating a comfortable urban environment, and will support the development of tourism.
