Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Negotiations between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan took place at the Samarkand Congress Center. The talks focused on deepening political dialogue, expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and enhancing trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

At the start of the meeting, King Abdullah II expressed gratitude to President Mirziyoyev for the invitation and warm reception, noting the historic significance of his first high-level visit, which marks a new stage in bilateral relations and elevates them to a comprehensive partnership. The leaders highlighted the strengthening of traditional friendship, active practical cooperation, and the similarity of reform strategies in both countries.

Special attention was given to continuing constructive engagement between foreign ministries, activating interagency contacts, and supporting initiatives within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and other international frameworks. Both sides confirmed their readiness to significantly increase bilateral trade, implement joint investment projects, and conclude new contracts.

During the negotiations, agreements were reached on developing cooperation in sectors such as chemicals and textiles, “smart” agriculture, geology, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, tourism, and other industries. It was proposed to establish an Intergovernmental Commission and a Business Council, holding their first sessions by the end of this year, and to organize an Uzbek-Jordanian business forum with leading companies from both countries to establish long-term business partnerships.

The parties also expressed readiness to expand cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges through joint cultural weeks, concerts, exhibitions, and showcases. Discussions included the joint study of spiritual heritage, strengthening cooperation between research centers and Islamic studies institutes, and promoting ideas of tolerant and enlightened Islam. President Mirziyoyev praised King Abdullah II’s “Aqaba Process” initiative and suggested holding one of its upcoming sessions in Samarkand.

Additionally, the launch of regular flights between the capitals and the introduction of a visa-free regime were noted as measures that will facilitate increased business contacts and tourism exchanges. Global and regional agenda issues were also discussed.

At the conclusion of the talks, King Abdullah II invited President Mirziyoyev to visit Jordan. The meeting was held in a constructive, open, and trusting atmosphere, emphasizing both countries’ readiness to further deepen their cooperation.
