President of Uzbekistan approves social support measures for Palestinian citizens in the country

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree “On measures to organize a system of state support for a group of Palestinian citizens residing in the Republic, based on the principles of compassion and humanity.”

The document establishes a set of social and legal guarantees for Palestinian guests who have arrived in the country.

According to the decree, elderly Palestinian citizens without the required work record will be granted pensions in line with existing regulations for this category.

Able-bodied guests, except for persons with Group I and Group II disabilities, will receive a monthly subsistence allowance equal to the minimum consumer expenditure, while each family will have their housing rent covered.

The measures also provide for one-time payments upon the birth of a child and funeral allowances in amounts equivalent to those granted to citizens of Uzbekistan.

Each family will additionally receive a one-time sum for the purchase of essential household items, and a social worker will be assigned to each household to provide individual assistance and support in meeting everyday needs.

Children of Palestinian citizens will be placed in state kindergartens and schools in their area of residence without waiting lists. Parents will be exempt from preschool fees until 1January 2028.

As part of the implementation of Presidential Decree No. PQ–12 of 17 January 2025, the children of these guests will have access to additional education in state institutions, including vocational training, information technology, and university entrance preparation. All associated education costs will be fully covered by the State Budget.

In this way, the decree establishes a systemic approach to the social support of Palestinian citizens, providing them with basic social guarantees, educational opportunities, and individualized assistance during their stay in Uzbekistan.
