President of Uzbekistan Hosts Delegation from Saint Petersburg

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 September, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a Russian delegation led by Alexander Beglov, Governor of Saint Petersburg.

The meeting focused on further expanding Uzbek-Russian cooperation, particularly the implementation of economic cooperation projects and cultural-humanitarian exchange programs with Saint Petersburg.

Growth in mutual trade was highlighted: last year, regional-level export-import operations increased by 20 percent. Work is underway to launch a Business Center in Tashkent and to prepare a project for the construction of the “Saint Petersburg Quarter” within the New Tashkent area.

During the visit, a “roadmap” was agreed upon for the implementation of 23 joint projects across sectors including metallurgy, instrument engineering, road construction, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, food industry, agriculture, logistics, and other industries.

Initiatives to develop private healthcare, education, utilities, digital technologies, migration, and tourism were supported. Special attention was given to humanitarian contacts and the regular organization of joint cultural events.

An agreement was reached to prepare measures for the effective conduct of the second session of the Uzbekistan-Russia Council of Regions, scheduled for October 2025.
